Hi, what is the criterium for a hand to be finished in a MBT? In normal tourneys it is usual to:
* Don't start a hand when there is less than X minutes on the clock
* Finish any hand that is played
I would suggest that hands should be finished and no new hand is started when the round clock is on 0 (i.e. less than a minute to play), or unfinished hands will be scored as disconnects in Money Bridge, i.e. GIB determines the most likely result of the contract bid.

I thought the no limit makes it more intresting, you have to make tactical decesions based on your status at the turney and at the table.

Our thinking in this area is along the lines of what Flame says - that the current rules regarding time help to make MBTs more interesting. There are some technical reasons as well for our current policies in this area.
But the most important thing for us is running MBTs under the rules that people want to see. If there is a lot of support for Gerben's suggestion we will at least consider implementing this.

I'm not sure what you mean by "no limit". I've had the situation several times where there were seconds left on the clock and a new hand was dealt. Of course your natural instinct is to play it but then suddenly the tournament is finished...
This post is not about a fixed number of hands, I really like it that part of the strategy is to manage your time, but about the very last hand for one particular player.
Yesterday I passed out a hand in 4th seat because I didn't think would have a game even though it would be a clear opening bid, and my score suggested I needed a big plus quickly. So: passout quickly and hope the next board is more promising
Breaking off a hand seems odd since that would allow people to sit on their score near the end if the current board is giving them a minus score. Of course you want to get a final result as well and not wait for 5 minutes for the last player to finish his last hand, but throwing out a board that is under way just feels wrong.
Just a question: At what point is there a timeout? So far I've been trying to play as many hands as possible (as I've been averaging plus, playing one more hand tends to improve the score) so I've not tested this.

isn't it kinda moot given the chance of withdrawing at any time you have?
