watching results from MBT i was curious is there a minimun number of hands that you have to play in the 25 minutes allowed. Thinking along these lines say by some mircale you make an unmakeable vul grand slam on board one or two....can you sit on just the one score for the whole time???

You can wait out the clock (unless your GIB partner is the declarer).

I just did this is a recent MBT. There were 4 minutes left on the clock on my GIB opps bid a slam that I could see was going to make. I was in 2nd place and decided that I had a better chance of maintaining my position by not allowing the slam hand to complete.

This almost worked, but unfortunately that damned Sheri bid and made a slam of her own with only seconds remaining so I dropped to 3rd.

At least the money will stay in the family

I wish there were a second hand on the clock, so I could tell how fast I need to play. A couple of days ago I was playing a slam on the last hand, but the clock ran out with 2 or 3 tricks to go. Making it would have pushed me from 7th to 3rd or 4th.

I'm not sure I could have played any faster than I did, I was just playing top tricks. Looking forward to the addition of the Claim button one of these days.

The clock runs to zero. when it goes to zero, there is approximately 1 minute left (+/- 15 seconds or so)
