These days, Fantunes changed some things about their system. I just wonder why they changed it, and what the real effect is:

- 2M openings never have the other Major. They moved hands with (11)12-13HCP and 54+ in both Majors to 1M openings, but kept their original negatives and GF bids. While this makes their GF auctions pretty light, they don't get to impossible contracts that often since their 4M contracts will usually have 23+HCP and a fit.
- After a 1 opening, their negative responses are now 0-11HCP instead of 0-9HCP. After the other 1X openings they still use 0-9. Why did they change this, and what's the downside of playing 0-9?

These are the 2 biggest changes I've noticed. Most questionable change is the 0-11 negatives, does anyone know more about this, or perhaps has a clue why it would be better?

just a guess but are positive responses now game forcing and make those auctions more constructive?

No, they were GF before - opposite 14+ unbal/15+ bal they went to game on 10 hcp.

They were GF before but now they are GF+ which makes it more constructive :)
I assume they open 1M on both majors since they figured out that opening 2M with both majors didn't work as well as they hoped.

Yes, I think so...

There are 2 ma downsides in F-N:

1. hard to start invitational auction opposite a 2-level opener, especially 2M, which further restricts the room for investigation. As a result, thos 12 hcp vs 12-13 hcp games are hard to find.. all the more so for 12-13 hcp opposite a good 10-11 hcp with a fit

2. as a result, when opener opens at the 2 level and responder is in misfit, responder often has to guess whether:
... a. try to look for a better strain, risking that opener will rebid his own suit at the 3 level, very dangerous
......b. try to look for game, risking again a misfit at the 3 level, or else passing, finding out later that there indeed exist a side fit that would justify optimism in bidding game (or at least a better partscore).

Limiting the number of hand types that will open 2M means limiting the number of times our constructive auction will be awkward; but it also means to limit the number of times we will preempt opponents.

I cannot really tell which pros and cons are most significant...
