Scoring: IMP

Opponents all silent, your partner opens in 2. position and the bidding goes
1-1-1NT

You are playing our favorite convention xyz, in the flavor that 2 (forcing 2 from partner) followed by 2 would be a mild invite, while followed by 3 would be a strong invite. 2 is a general game force, and if you follow that up with a 3 rebid, your partner will understand that as 6 hearts but doubts about the strain.
(Sorry, 2NT is not available for invites.)

What is your plan?

Arend

Edit: 1NT is 12-14

One more reason to prefer XYZ where 2c asks for 3 card support and showing min/max as a priority over auto puppet to 2d. Trying for game more important than signing off in long weak D, just play in 4-3 major.

In this case clear invite hand with 2c then 2h showing 6 over 2d if playing junky openings, clear game force hand if you open very sound style.

2C followed by 2H for me.

I don't understand Mike's sentence that starts with "one more reason ..", which reason are you referring to?
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Basic XYZ is written up as 2c=puppet to 2d 100%. Hardy (p.31).
Basic XYZ you must bid 3h to show 6 card suit invite over 2c/2d puppet not 2h (p. 34).
Nice to know if partner has 3H and a min/max hand often.

I would rather consider this a GF hand, only 7 losers...
