After this stupid bidding I became declarer on 3NT, and missguesed everything, only shy discarding from RHO on what was a blind to me squeeze, made me get in the end what I though would be average 400. What I wasn't expecting is that almost everyone played only 2NT . But my greater surprise was when I found the full deal, I had to see 52 cards to knwo what was going on .

I'm sure almost everyone has played a variant of this deal, for me this was second time, and yet I didn't recognise grrr. Maybe next time. My local club is full of 80+ people, but I wonder how they managed to switch some of the small cards.

I would never open the south hand. I don't think that it is worth much more than 10 pts. I might still get to 3NT because the north hand is quite nice, but I probably wouldn't.

Ah yes, I've played that hand once, I think it was in 2NT. We didn't realise what was going on until later.... when my husband, who was playing in a different partnership, recognised it as soon as dummy hit and explained to the TD that he knew all four hands.

There are more cards out of place like the ♥A and the ♣A. The north player took the first 13 cards, then the next 8 and then he continued but I am not sure how.

EDIT: I think he didn't continue but the remaining 31 dropped at the table.

I think you cannot know what is going on until you see the full hand. This is the one you should recognize:

or one of the other 3 (changing ♠♥♦♣).

At first I was confused what in the world is being talked about....
Then i looked closely at the spade suit trying to place the spots..

Nice!

It is a wonder how they managed to get some spots out of place!

Well Peter, at least in Spain that's not fully true, on a new deck you get the ♠A as first card, close to the ♠2, while on the other suits the Ace goes near the King. So the ♠ distrribution is normally different from the others. Being that the ♠ suit is the one best dvidided on this deal makes it even more rare.
