1 natural and forcing :(

Playing standard: Still 1 but it's more problematic now, planning to rebid 3. If it's passed out I"m not that sad, anyway.

OOps, I voted 1 diamond in a standard 5 card major system, but I had not noticed that a strong club option was available.

I open 1

However, in standard, after opening 1D, I plan to rebid 2NT if pard bids hearts, 3 clubs if he bids spades.

Well, my favourite system for 3154 21-counts at game all is forcing pass.

I pass.
I don't mind playing a 6-1 fit with a stiff K.

Sry, but I don't understand that ! :(

In standard, if you rebid 2NT this is 18-19 and you have 21 ?? :)

Why not open in NT then ?

I have 20 hcp that I downgrade slightly because of the stiff K

No problem with 1. Our system defines that as 12+ HCP, the upper limit being either 3 losers or 20 balanced HCP.

If 1 is passed, out, it's probably a good thing because there will hardly be any entry to partner's hand :(

I know that I might miss a lucky game or three if partner responds with 1 and passes my 3 response - but I'm prepared to live with it...

1D.

I cant bring myself to open 2NT,
but I see the merits.

No option is 2C, this bids makes
it hard to describe the hand.

I would open 1, 2 or 2NT depending on pard and what I had for dinner. Definitely 2NT if pard can't play'em :(

I open 1, and should partner bid 1, I will rebid 2 which I play as "new minor forcing by opener". If partner rebids 2 over this, he shows a hand that wants to play in 2 opposite a 17-18 bal with 3 card support, or 17-19 bal without 3 card support. I will then rebid 2, showing 3-1-5-4 or 3-0-6-4 specifically

This sounds interesting, do you open 2 suiters at the 2 level?

Same here...

Looks like a pretty clear 1 opening playing "standard"...

1D non forcing. This hand just doesn't warrant a stronger action unless playing a forcing club.
