Scoring: IMP

E S W N
1N X 2P
2 2N 34
P 5 P P
P

This was our bidding. The opening was 15-17. The double was penalty, showing a hand that held a good suit and was likely to beat 1N if on lead. 2H was transfer.
2N was meant as minor takeout, which partner read correctly. The trouble began now, as I was afraid, without discussion, that 4H might be construed as a heart/club 6/4 or 5/5 hand. Knowing all finesses were on, I was concerned that partner wouldn't be able to reach his hand often enough to take 2 finesses even if he had a singleton spade.

Could you have done better? His hand:

Scoring: IMP

E S W N
1N X 2P
2 2N 34
P 5 P P

No, me neither. In fact I'm more than happy at finding a making game rather than missing slam on these cards

Once you bid 2NT as minors and partner picks diamonds, and goes to the 4-level, 4H by you must be a cuebid. Partner will cue 4S and tada. If 4H is RKCB, then 4S, not plausibly Exclusion, must be either a cue or an ask. If asking, 4S does the tricl. If a cue, 5C "asks" and does the trick by inference. So, depending upon style (and trust level), yes.

And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

Agree.

Most likely I would have stopped in a partial, since
I dont play penalty dbl.

The key is to find pd with a singleton or the Ace or King
If he has the A he can't have a honor, otherwise, but possible, the opp opened 1NT with 14.
Again looking for pd with very specific holding and certain cards.
I think I am happy to be in game and yes slam is nice but very hard to get in.
