I like pass here. This rates to go plus on defense.

It's possible to miss a game by passing, but the range of hands for partner where game can make but partner wouldn't act over 3 is actually rather narrow. Suits are also breaking badly for us, so even games which seem "normal" on our combined hands may tend to go down.

On the other hand, there are quite a number of hands where partner has an easy pass and RHO has an easy double of any action we take, and we go for a four-digit number at IMPs.

I agree.

But what would you balance, holding:

This is just shy of a 3NT bid for me.

Thiis is a standard 3NT balance, with the plus that if you don't knwo if this shows 16-18 or 13-15 you rate for both

I like 3NT as the vulnerable game of choice. Other conditions would lead to pass, however....

3NT, but not jumping from joy.

Agree that this is very close between pass and 3NT. I would try for 3NT. Even if this goes for a big number I usually feel a lot better than when I pass and 3NT makes.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
