Simple overcall or heavy preempt? K Qxx KQJ8xxx KJ

Playing matchpoints in a club game, you pick up K Qxx KQJ8xxx KJ in 3rd seat with both vulnerable. Partner passes and righty bids 1C. Your bid?
If you'd make a simple overcall, which high cards would you have to remove to preempt? If you'd preempt, how much more would you need to make a simple overcall?

1D. without the HQ or CK I would bid 3D. I like heavy preempting opposite a passed hand to keep everyone guessing, but this one just has too much potential imo (even without the SK).

With 7 semisolid ♦ I will just go for: 3♦. I would not bid this if partner was not a passed hand. To bid 1♦ instead of preempting with such long ♦ I'd need a hand that can reasonably find a partner hand to make 3NT. Here, partner needs just too much.
I hope my preempt helps either to let them miss 4♠ or guess all or most of the finesses wrong.

Probably 3♦ - If pard has the perfect 10 count where we make 3N, I'll apologize. The short spades tip the scale toward preemption and away from a constructive auction.
A 1N overcall looks fun too

Nothing wrong about applying extra pressure by altering third seat bids to a degree - but this hand is too much for 3D and an ugly 1D so I vote for the applying maximum pressure and open 4D.
If everyone has to guess, let's guess real high.

Sorry, forgot to answer your other question. I'm a preemptor so to be worth an overcall I'd only have to rearrange the cards some. Kx, x, KQJxxxx, KQJ - of course less would still be fine: xxx, x, KQJxxxx, KQx. The preempting starts when I hit: xxx, x, KQJxxxx, Kxx.
Someone really needs to write a treatise on O/D ratio and quantify it.

3♦, in third seat I like to prepare lil traps for oppos. 1♦ would not be really signifcant bid: no pre-emption, and while it's safe I doubt it will be a useful lead.
To bid 1♦, I'd like to change 2 outside K into Aces

3♦, pd needs perfect hand for us to make 3 NT, mine never have them.
But this is again why I love to play 10-12 NT, now I "know" almost for sure pd can't have any hand for me to make 3NT.

I think this hand is very close indeed, I voted for 3D. Without the stiff spade king my 3D bid would be clear, and move the little ones around a little bit and 1D would be clear.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Take away one King, 3D.
The main problem is, that because you
have 15HCP, they may not have anything.
With kind regards

Pard has passed, I have 15 hcp and RHO just opened.......I can walk the hand, cause wherever they end up, I can show my values this way.....the pre-empt (hey, I CAN rebid after an overcall, can't I?) gets us to the right level perhaps, but not the right way......
The Grand Design, reflected in the face of Chaos...it's a fluke!
