I play Multi-versus-Multi in direct position and Dixon in 4th/6th seat (6th seat is after 2D-P-2M-P-P-?). But this auction, 2D-P-P-? brings up an interesting question. Dixon in fourth seat is meant for when RHO bids 2H/2S. Here he passes 2D, this is not covered by Dixon. At the table, I guess I would revert have to Multi-versus-Multi but this is probably not best.
What do people play when a multi 2D is passed to the fourths chair? Double as penalty (based upon misfit)? I think some ideas for non-standard treatments migh include,
DBL = No clear direction, values.
2M = Takeout of bid major (implies other major and clubs)
2NT = natural, limited
3C = one suiter, this suit
3D = big hand, looking for 3NT or if you prefer, michales showing a major and clubs, big hand.
Or,
DBL = penalty,
2M = bid suit, neutral on clubs
2NT = raptor like, clubs and hearts
3C = raptor like, clubs and spades
3D = good club suit, one suiter, extra values
Or,
DBL = hearts
2H = spades,
2S = clubs,
2NT = hearts and clubs
3C = clubs and spades
Of course, the simple,
DBL = takeout,
2H = hearts,
2S = spades,
3C = clubs
can always be played. (how boring....)....
