Been working on better methods of responding to 2C:
Here is the scenario: 2C shows 3 hand types:
A) A NT hand either 22-24 or 24-26 (24 is the swing hand for evaluation)
B) A Single-suited hand within 1 to 1 1/2 tricks of game (a little judgement)
C) A Two-suited game force.
First thing needed to know is if game is possible or not, so the responses are structured like this:
2D=puppet to 2H with three hand types: weak with a heart or spade suit (pass/correct), weak and balanced, or positive(game force balanced with less than 3 controls)
Opener accepts the puppet with small NT or bids 2S with a single suiter (any suit) or bids 2N with the big NT.
Opener accepts the puppet: 2H. (Shows smaller NT)
Responder's actions:
Pass: weak with hearts
2S: weak with spades - passable.
2N: to play with balanced weak hand.
3C: Stayman
3D: Repuppet to 3N with no major. (right side attempt)
3H: Weak hand with clubs
3S: Weak hand with diamonds
3N: To play (right side attempt)
Opener bids 2S over 2D: (Shows any single suiter.)
Responder's rebids:
2N: second negative
3C/D,H,S: balanced positve with a contol in bid suit.
3N: positve, balanced, with less than 3 controls.
Opener bids 2N. (Shows big NT).
Standard actions.
Opener bids a new suit at 3 level over 2D: (Shows game force 2 suiter)
3C: Clubs/hearts
3D: Diamond/hearts
3H: Majors
3S: Spades + minor
Opener rebids 3N over 2D: To play, semi-gambling with 9 trick minor hand.
Responder's positive bids:
2H-transfer. Spade positve. Acceptance asks controls.
2S-transfer. Heart positive. Acceptance asks controls.
2N-transfer. Club positive. Acceptance asks controls.
3C-transfer. Diamond positive. Acceptance asks controls.
3D-A and K, balanced.
3H-4 controls, balanced
3S-5 contols, balanced
3N-exactly 3 kings, balanced.
A major suit positive shows 5+ and a 5 card suit, any quality. Minor positve is either a 5 card suit with extra values or a 6 card suit with 5+. If partner accepts the transfer (contols ask), responder raises with the minimum hand and no slam interest (or bids 3N with a minor), shows contols starting at 2 (2, 3, 4+), or bids a new suit above the last contol bid with less than 2 contols but extra values.
That's the basic framework.
