Only 2S at this vulnerability. Any other vulnerability, bid 3S.

Clear cut pass here for me, and it isn't close.

1) This auction is live, with LHO showing a strong NT, and whilst RHO may not have much, he may well have a raise to 3NT with 4 hearts.

2) You are vulnerable against not. You also have a full 7 losers, with potential for more than that. The auction has not given us any suggestion that partner will be able to cover those losers. This vulnerability would tend to make them double you on any excuse, and frequently on no excuse.

red/white I'm only going to bid 2S here. I don't want to pass and let them sort out what is going on.

I will bid 2 ♠ at this vulnerability.

With another Ace, more solid trimp suit or different vulnerability I would bid 3 ♠.

With a 3 card fit and an Ace partner will probably save in 4 ♠ over their 4 ♥.

With a 4 card fit he should definitely bid 4 spades.

2♠ seems clear. You need to get a lead directing bid in, and preempting won't make things much harder for them and will carry considerable risk.

Pass or 2♠, depends on the mood...

2S, the vul. forbids any spade bid higher,
2S gets the job, done.

Agree, don't worry about it.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I think I was the pass vote (I don't even think I voted pass now..and wait...)

The auction after 2♠ seems crystal clear (P-P-X) , and showed up at the table.

The Stayman bidder is not bidding a garbage stayman unless my partner is void in spades. Therefore, invitational or better values. On a great day, I will make 2SX. On a decent day I will be down only one when 3NT or 4♥ makes. On almost every other day, I have just enrolled for a bottom.

Yes, everyone can line up at my table for free tops ;>)

fritz

p.s. My initial gut reaction was 2♠ until I noticed that RHO really can not have a garbage stayman hand and i read the vul situation...although it would be nice to know what sort of hands my opps would start a stayman sequence with, I still think the odds favor pass.

3 ♠ i think is very aggressive bid...this is MP and you are in red vs green....
