ok. Let me teach you. At first, I am sure that this is "best" hand style. Best hand = your pd cannot have more HCP than you. As you have only 12, you should know he has less than 12 HCP. You can wisely pass 3s lol.
Secondly, I am sure that many "expert" players will bid 4s with north hand.
In the end, don't you think it is a fantastic def from opps? I don't think every expert player will lead HA after 4H bid. You are just unlucky to have H not 3-3 break. Luck is also one part of bridge.

The real shame is that it's hard to double East's 2♦. Looks to me like it's down 2 (NS get 2♠, 2♣, 3♦), a great score at this vulnerability.
