1. I don't like preemptive openings with hands that have opening strength. No other bid looks right to me.

5D seems too much, with too much defence against their 4M. Neither 3 or 4 diamonds appeal either, so 1D.

KNR just barely too much (17.45) to open 1NT, so I guess 1D.

The hand evaluation system assumes the one using it knows whether the hand is a NT hand or not.

I apparently didn't.

A shortcut to use the KNR thing would be:

http://www.jeff-gold...cgi-bin/knr.cgi

This would seem to indicate the hand is worth 1D, then a jump to 3D if pard makes a simple response.

This hand has just 12hcp. I thought you need 13 to open at the one-level?

Now there is someone getting into the spirit of things. Now, lets explore a forcing club opener.

Nothing surprising here, this is just what is expected from BBO experts.

1D or 5D are both reasonable, since you are in 2nd pos.,

It was I, and I'll explain by saying I thought that it could be taken as a serious answer by the original poster, and so was not only not funny (IMO) but had a potentially negative contribution to the answer. If you think that doesn't merit a "cherry" then I'll think about being more conservative with my voting in the future.

I didn't vote cherdano's either way.
