It's hard to imagine partner having a slam try here without spades controlled, and if he has one our hand could hardly be better. We could even make slam if I'm misinterpreting and he is just showing club length, like x AJTxx xx AQJxx. 6.

Also even if I'm wrong I expect a save by the 4 bidder a fair amount of the time. Often they save over 4 planning to also save over 6 but let us play 5.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I think 5 should be an offer to play - something like x Axx xxx AQJ10xx. If that's what I think he has, I should have raised to 6 on the previous round.

Given that 5 showed a slam try in your partnership, I agree with Josh.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Well clearly Jx is a 2nd round or better control so 6 is a WTP? :)

I had no agreements, in fact I was afraid of partner having 2 hearts and 6 clubs so I passed 5. Lacking AK wasn't very appealing either.

Partner didn't have the hand he promised during the bidding, so forget about it and concentrate on the beatiful (I hope) play problem.

LHO leads A on wich RHO plays the 7, he hesitates a while and finally switches to 10. Plan the play.

gut reaction is to win the K and lead another . If LHO discards win the A and lead a 3rd round.

thx for trying tuna.

It took me 3 minutes to play this one, I though about playing a club back, but it has the problem of getting entryless to dummy if the hearts are 3-1 (as the cards lied, this is the only line to go down, kind of the line took at the other table).

Also defence so far strongly suggested LHO had K, so I also took strong consideration of just playing A+another after ruffing a spade and drawing trumps

In the end I just played for 32 or LHO having QJ10x, not sure if its best, but it worked today.
