Scoring: IMP

2♥(1) - (P) - ?

(1) Roughly 5-9 hcp, 5 hearts and a 4 card minor.

You are playing against good opponents.

Blasting or trying to deceive?

5h, expect to go for -500.
If partner is 5422 or/and has less than 8 working hcp..drop this style.
Good hand to see if this system is worth anything or a piece of sh*t.
Not good enough player to psyche 2s, leave that to others.

2S. If they X it's t/o so has a reasonable chance of working.

4♥. While the psyche here has a decent chance of working, it is too disaster prone for my liking. Probably a sign of advancing age :) Second choice 2♠

It is by no means clear that either opp will have a bid over 4♥

I'll give 2NT a whirl.

What would it mean, BTW?

I rest my case..we play a system where everyone comes up with a funny bid...not the the 11 card heart fit bid weak. Great system...bid funny every hand. Funniest of goofiest bids wins..

How about a psychic 3NT? LHO would have to have guts to bid 4S now :)

4H.

Lets see, if they find a bid, I can
bid 5H later.
If they have a bid over 4H, they will
have also a bid over a direct 5H.

I disagree with this.

I might try 3NT, but if I'm playing down the line, then it's 5♥ for me.

It stops being t/owhen partner raises to 3 or 4.

If partner raises to 3 then I'll bid 4H. I don't know what a 4S bid by partner would mean or if it would ever exist...if he has spades, hearts, and a minor he should splinter. Even if he happens to bid 4S, 5H is where others are bidding already so its not a disaster to get there. If LHO has A LOT of spades, he can bid 3S(or 4S) natural over a 2S bid, but if he happens to have just 5 or a weak 6 bagger or something, he may easily get stuck and then caught in the subterfuge later. I think this psyche has a reasonable chance of success, even against good players, and I don't think it is highly disaster prone at all. Perhaps I am underestimating the risk.

Since you intend to bid 4H, and you do have some chance of making, a nice 2NT and when he shows bad hand bad suit a quiet 3H......they may both have 11-12 and neither may force the issue.

Scoring: IMP

2♥(1) - (P) - 2♠! - (X!)
P - (3NT!) - P - (4♠)
All Pass

I chose the subterfuge of 2♠. West decided to double. Maybe they play this as meaning spades, but it wasn't alerted. East jumped to 3NT and that gave West the impetus to bid 4♠. I decided that once I chose to psyche 2♠ there was no point in bidding 5♥ afterwards. Turns out it would have been a profitable sacrifice. Of course, they can also make 5♠, so who knows if it would have mattered.

You also risk pushing them into slam if you save in 5H. I like your decision. I'm guessing your opponents were pretty weak since your LHO had an easy 3S bid and X isn't penalty where I come from.

It seems reasonable to me for double of 2♠ to be penalties here.

We play a x of 2♠ here as penalty, but sort of balanced. I'm sure this isn't standard, but it seems to have more utility than T.O. for the minors.

3♥ is a monster takeout and 3♠ is natural. Duh - do you think you really get to nail them in 2♠?

So 2S is strong balanced? and 2N is minors? That just seems like an inversion of normal (one that is for the better imo).

Yeah - not sure if I came up with this or not. There was a MSC problem a few years ago that gave you a mountain with spades after 2♥ - p - 2♠. I think some of the panelists suggested that 3♠ needs to be natural, and double meant 'something else'.

Inverting 2N and double seems logical on a lot of levels to me anyway. The best reason is it lets my pard play the hand - always a good thing!
