Don t like either bid but who am I to argue against success
If all boards were like that you probably had a good touney.

Yeah, if you make the obvious X over 2♦ and partner bids a major, now what is your bid?

I'm a jack short for my bid, but with AKxx,AKx, it seemed to be the best decritption.

And our score; 67.63%

I cherished (esp with AK AK that tend to play better in a suit contract) the possibility to cheaply escape in 2M. So I (gladly) pass 2, probably raise 3 to 4 (depends how strong the jump is and if preceded or not by 2NT), and pass over 4.
Here it would even be easier, partner cues and I bid 3H, now 5D XBW makes oartner sure we do not have 7. Jumps to 6 always impress but we could have been cold for 7 (or, admittedly very rarely, to 5 only).

With 4=4 majors, no source of tricks and pure controls I think this is a much better double than it is a 2N bid. Fortunately this would get us to 6H anyway. (2D) x (3D) 4D (P) 4H etc

What do you bid over (2♦) X (P) 2M?
