I play several free tournaments organized generously by volunteers on behalf of Italian players under Italian regulations (used to run one myself).
I recently changed back to an old nickname and found myself excluded from one such tournament, to the surprise of the Director who is not a BBO expert.
He said he had no include or exclude list and had changed nothing.
I have an Italian IP address so that is not the issue.
I checked that my account had Country set to Italy.
In the end, it worked when I changed my browser language to Italian (which I remember was once important to BBO for some reason).
Does anyone have an idea what is going on?
Has BBO changed something at about the same time?
I can live with changing the browser to Italian, but it seems odd that with the previous nickname that was not necessary and that with this one I can still access other Italian tournaments in English.

It depends on the tourney restrictions. It sounds like this one was restricted by language, not by country. While others were probably restricted by country and not by language.

That sounds like the explanation, will check thanks.
What does he need to do to restrict by IP location as well?
I got the impression he would be unhappy if people from other countries could enter simply by setting Country in profile.

Country restriction already works by IP, not by country in profile.
