1S. If partner doesn't have 3 spades we're unlikely to buy the contract and I want to tell partner what to lead. If partner does have 3 spades I don't care about their diamonds.

I also overcall 1S - the only time we're playing this contract is if we have a spade fit, and if opponents play I want partner to lead a spade, if he is on lead (I agree I might well be on lead against hearts).

It's not a situation where I would chose to open a nebulous 2♣, unless we have limited 1 over 1 responses and generally redefined natural a bit further.
I would like to have a strong 2♥ jump available but we don't play that either.
So a traditional unlimited 1♥ for me.

Count me in for 1♠ too. It looks like we will probably end up defending and I don't want to give Declarer a road map of my hand.

Wtf? Why would we choose a nebulous bid? That’s, and I use the word advisedly, *****ic. Do you hate your partners that much?
