64
A3
AQ753
AQJT
and open 1D. Partner bids 1H, I rebid 2C and partner bids 2D.
What should I bid here? Thanks.

2♠ - asking for a spade stopper
I would have opened 1nt to show partner I have a strong (15-17), balanced hand.
Bridge should be fun!

It looks closer to 2nt to me, but still in the mid range so 1♦ is fine.
I too would risk 2♠ at IMPs, partner is not enthusiastic (and not promising many diamonds) but we might make 3NT.

2D is preference, he has a dead min.

2S is gf
2H shows this hand type, sure you prefer 3 hearts, ...max, strong invite however you can still stop

2H shows 3 cards and non minimum here for me.
2S is forcing but not GF, both already had a chance to game force and they haven't said anything encouraging in the meantime.

We could have avoided this pickle by opening 1nt

If you never play 4SF as gf , fair enough
I am too old for 1NT, that is for you young high energy folks
Btw pickles are delicious, I don't avoid them 🥒

I'm looking forward to seeing some hands from the Regional with your Diamond Life Master, good luck.

A. Opening 1NT, or
B. (K&R calculates it as 19+) rebid 3C after 1D.
At MPs, I would happily open 1NT because 5-of-a-minor contracts are avoidable.

Isn't 4SF applicable only by responder as the 4th bid in the auction?

No
Let me put it this way
Do you think 2S is a forcing bid?
Are spades the fourth suit?
So clearly 2S is 4SF
The only disagreement is forcing to what?

Agreed. I play 4SF as game force. So, I don't know if I bid 2S here, it would mean a one round force only (if I restrict 4SF as GF only when it is the 4th bid in an auction as I was taught / learnt).
