Not a problem to find spades if partner has 4h or 5H and 4S after a reverse into 2D.
Opener will simply rebid spades at third turn.

Do you include 4144 hands in your reverse structure?

Sure, partner will assume 5Clubs.
Not a problem if maximum values for reverse.

If minimum values for reverse, may just rebid one spade. Bit tougher

Late to the thread, but as you already know this is balanced in my eyes. I would open it 2 then 2NT and then cheerfully take what comes.

It is a fundamental principle of bridge (outside of certain non-standard methods) that one bids long suits before short(er) suits. Any reverse absolutely, without any room for exception whatsoever, promises more length in the first suit than the second.

Your approach seems a bit unconventional.

I can't speak for MikeH.

(4144) Three suited Type hands are awkward.

Yes on some of them I do break that rule.

I might simply rebid at the one level, or reverse or I might jump shift or I might treat it balanced, especially if the stiff is a King

However what I don't do is have a special convention showing three suited hands.

Fortunately most of them are bidding panel hands rather than at the table hands.

Again for the OP strong hand, 2C is a fine option.

Leaving MikeH's expert theory out of it, every player I know promises a longer first suit, the entire foundation of the bid relies on this.

Getting back to the issue at hand, the main revelation for me is the importance of discussing a response other than XX or pass.

2 undiscussed. These hands are from a friend challenge, the friend I was bidding alongside plays X=0 Pass=values after interference of 2

or

2NT (and too bad if partner bids 4H expecting 2 cards) for the 1st

2S for the 2nd, as an aside if you were planning to bid S, 1D might have been a better opening, as the suit is stronger (we are faking a 5th card we do not have), while if you plan to bid D of course only 1C can be opened. The advantages of 1C is that it allows a 1D response as well as a weak C fit. On average and statistically, not sure what gains. The risk of losing the S (the hand will look like 3145 with Axx S trying to have partner declare NT) vs the risk of partner insisting on C.
