I think partner would think it was takeout, but then that would also apply to 2N.

2NT is both minors, more shape than is expected for a T/O double.

Simple ��. 2nt is undefined?


Both are T/O, the difference is, if you make the T/O X, you have to be prepared to play 2SX.
This means, the hand making the T/O X has to have some defence, typically it will be based on a semibal. hand,
a typicall example maybe a strong NT, 2NT will be more distributional.

If the opening bid, would be a minor (espesially clubs), the T/O may also offer the option to play
openers minor, given that both majors are bid, and one opp has 5+, the other 6+ cards, hearts is no
longer in play.

We play Good/Bad 2NT. It is on most of the time, but not sure it would apply here (eg 10-HP with 7c versus 11+?). I will check with my partner.

What does penalty mean? Substantial non-transferable spade values? KJT98?
