I'm thinking of strength but

OMG ! :wacko: :wacko:

I have just sent this auction to my current "best" partner and asked Shape or stoppers?

Her answer: stoppers

My other best partner:
That bidding sequence denies a 5 card diamond suit and promises a 4 card spade suit.
With a 4 card major and 5 card or longer diamond suit, opener should show shape.

Maybe I will keep the third opponent after all :)

No one plays 1nt forcing over 1 as far as I know. The usual combination if you want 2 response game forcing is:

2nt = invite, around 11 balanced no 4M.
3 = invite with 6+
Inverted minor raises

You can move some things around if you're willing to use an artificial 2 and/or 2 response..

What he said, it's simple and natural
Other people changing all sorts of bids is fine for them
but people usually are better off keeping it simple

ps. there are people who play 1NT forcing but it is extremely complicated and not very many people do it.

It is impossible to go through all of these sequences with a new partner; you only find out as they come up.
The good news is that we have a better chance of handling it than others who haven't even thought of it. :)

I’ve never seen anyone play 1D 1N forcing. That isn’t to say that nobody does it, but I’ve played against a great many methods so it must be rare…for good reason. I do, in my main partnership, play 1C 1N as game forcing, but it’s actually not that complicated provided one plays transfer responses to 1C
