Since I can't retrieve hand records from the travelers (nothing shows up) I'm posting an image. This was the "normal" bidding on this ACBL Daylong.
My result was slightly better than the field (64%) only because GIB West led A♥ and a low heart handing me two quick spade discards. For true whackiness, at TWO tables, GIB graciously stopped at 5♣. HOWEVER, for those tables, GIB West led the same A♥ but switched to A♠ and another spade thus handing 5♣ the same -1 result.
Of course, there's always an outlier. Some clown smart player opened the South hand 1N which induced GIB West to start with 2♣ (Cap) followed by 2♠ (MSS). Clown smart player simply bids 3N in response in spite of having 4 diamonds. 3N+1 for a cold top. For a 90% hand, South PASSED, West bid 1♠, North bid 2♣ and South PASSED AGAIN. 2♣+1. Did either of these two players know something was afoot?
What I also find crazy is that WEST bid 3♠ over the 1♦ opener (described as aggressive WEAK jump overcall
) but opened the bidding with 1♠ in 2nd seat. I think many hoomans would overcall 1♠ with that 6 loser holding.
