1. I did bid 3 at one point and East continued with 4. Partner responded with 4N(confuses), but we play Kickback!
2. 5N, but with this partner 5 2+Q

1.Whatever 4nt means, void in kickback suit, hearts, or whatever else, I bid 5D
2. Over 5D, I will pass, over 5NT, 6D.

Correct on vulnerability
I play 3 as preference, not sure on the other bidders.

3C NF is certainly playable, and I have no idea, what is more common, it depends partially
on the quality of your w2, 3C NF repairs the 40 HCP Abacus.
With kind regards

Over 1-2-2 I'm going to bid 3NT partner forces, he's got clubs, given the bidding it's impossible partner is not stopping spades, I have values for game and stopped.

Over 2-Pass-3-3 I'm also bidding 3NT on the same basis. Partner should not only hold a mediocre suit, he must have stopped, otherwise where are his values to bid?

We ended in 6X when partner correctly made the move over 6. I'd initially tried to take a slow road to 3N.
The auction felt messy with the 5-card suit not mentioned at all and I wondered whether stronger preempts were warranted

What should an expert auction look like over a 2 or 1 opener?
