You might bid at MPs, but it is a bit of a guess. Maybe partner has spades and can ruff hearts in a spade contract. But on a bad day the opponents have a double fit in the majors and reach game! Otherwise, you will be playing in 3C and you need a better than 50:50 chance to want to play there.

If I open, it's 3♣. 4th seat, that is "what I expect to make", and I want to push as high as I can so the 10-10 or 11-9 opponents feel uncomfortable coming in and finding their suit. OTOH, they might be too high - my defensive tricks are outside clubs.

I feel uncomfortable opening a 12-14 NT in 4th to begin with (although I do, in my K/S partnership). I feel uncomfortable opening it with a singleton major (even the A K or Q that's all that's allowed here) in any seat - and as you say, this one's *really* bent. "Two flaws", and they are massive. Upside is that it might end the auction - but so will pass.

1♣ seems right out.

I guess it depends on the opponents this time - are they the sort that "can never be preempted"? Are they intimidated by me and partner? Are they the best pair in the room (where giving them more opportunities to bid and play better than I do is likely bad for me)? Are they...?

One final issue - my 12-14 NT partnership is K/S, not Acol. There is a decent chance that partner has a 12 or 13 that is really badly shaped for some bid (1=4=poor 5=3) or something. It's a little embarrassing to pass out a 3NT with 24 high and a running suit :-). But I've done it before, and I'm sure will again.

I would open 1N in a heartbeat if my suit was diamonds, and pass a 2♦ transfer

I Pass near automatically with strong NT.
Have no real experience of weak NT, but it doesn't look appealling with those anaemic clubs.

1N/1♣ will depend what happens next RHO has a 5422 10 with ♣AJ. Partner has Jxx, Axx, Q98xxx, K as long as you compete to the 3 level, you will definitely make 3♣, you shouldn't make 3♦ but pd did, 3♥ is 50:50 they have Q109/Kxxx in spades so 3♥ makes 8 or 9, depending on the guess, in fact one made, one didn't.

If I enter, it is on the 3 level, this will shut out the opponnets.

And I dont believe, they will bid game, if I start with 3C.

A 1C opening will only lead to problems, I cant solve later on.

My problem with 3C is, that I am not quite sure, the hand is strong enough,
if it fits your agreement set, you are odds on to make 3C.

The question to answer, can p ever bid 3NT over our 3C, e.g. if he happens
to hold random bal. 10 count with a club top honor.
If the answer is yes, the given hand is too weak to open 3C in 4th seat.
Finally, the question is, how did bidding on the other table proceed, if an
opponent has 54 in the majors and a 10 count, I would assume, some peoble in
room find an opening bid. And we have no issues, if they had started the bidding,
we have a reasonable 3C weak jump overcall.
