Forcing the auction to the 3 level opposite a partner that has shown nothing? Seems it should show at least 20-21 since bidding to the 4 level with partner showing nothing shows around 24+.

GIB has always played unusual 2NT as showing a good hand, no matter what the sequence.

Gib had like 10 points so cuebids forcing us to 4♦
Gib got to play it managed to go down 2 but should have been -1. It didn't take a hook
So a sensible human being would have bid 3♦ and made it unless the opponents bid 3♥ which is certainly possible.

It may be semantics, but partner hasn't shown nothing; they haven't shown anything. Partner could have an opening hand with ♥. Does GIB shave off a King to bid in 4th seat?
