This was very sad leading to a 20 point swing on the final hand of an IMPs tourney
I was not alone in trying to find a minor slam
Sadly GiB did not heed the advice to bid the lowest of the suits you can support
I thought it must have nice set of hearts (as did quite a few of us)

Double appeared to be taken as a rather dull penalty
5 clubs would have worked as a nice gamble getting to 6

I regret not following my instincts and bidding 6C over 5H

Nobody found 5NT which I also considered as an escape

Goodness, how bizarre. If you had corrected it would probably bid 7.

I have sympathy, the possum. The 5 bid is not just 'bizarre' but crazy also.

GIB's logic:

- well, I'm far too strong to just bid 5 or 5, so I'll rule that out
- which leads me to my next rule of AAH I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO BID ahha I have a biddable heart suit

It often turns out when you get the dreaded biddable suit description that GIB is actually strong and has support for you, but you can never know for sure and when bidding 6 shows 32+ points and will guarantee being put in 7, there's nothing you can do.
I have nothing worth contributing, bye
