Playing a robot challenge, GIB and I both went one down, but apparently, at trick four, East's failure to lead a spade gave declarer a chance to make it. Can anyone see how?

Edit: lol at me, this is very simple and does not require a squeeze. Maybe move to the beginner/intermediate forum :)
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

Actually, you were correct. A spade back beats you. The real point of emphasis should be at trick 2. You need to run the ten. They beat you again by covering, however, so perhaps it's best not to telegraph it to the bots.

It's routine to cover, playing as you did is fine, unfortunately once a spade has not come back, just draw the trump and play ace and another diamond is sufficient and you never lose a spade.
