1Sp=9-17, 5+ spades<br>2di=hearts

Note that we play switch so 2 shows hearts.

1 can be light, rule of 18 in principle, so this is not a minimum.

Nice problem. They seem to have a fit of sorts so I expect we do too. So I double to hopefully find it. If partner has good enough clubs to pass that is likely our best spot - they way some people bid he might have five decent clubs opposite. I'd rather have a few more points for this action but I don't. Passing seems to risk it being passed out.

For us, X (t/o) would show 4 diamonds, and 3 would show 5

I rank
1. 3 = NAT
2. 3 = NAT
3. Pass = Too weak in high cards.
3, 3 = Overbid
4. Double = Dangerous overbid. Opponents can probably make 10-11 tricks.

It is a 6-5 hand with a good card K. If you do not 3 here, then partner will probably let the auction die. Double here is a ambiguous/poor bid. Show partner your shape. Pass is just letting the opps. control the bidding.

I suggest inserting this in the diagram as an explanation (it must be alertable almost everywhere).

I might just invert 1 and 2 here.

Range?
Minimum length if < INV?
Minimum length if INV?
Sets up a force to which contract?

If less than invitational it would make sense to have a six card suit but I don't think that is guaranteed. It doesn't set up any force.

You could still get excited.

My interpretation would be that the transfer advance shows either weak with long Hearts or some invitational hand with
So X asks which?
Any response other than 3 would then line up a potential slam.

yes because x, Axxxx, Kxx, KQxx gets you so excited, even 3N is no gimme, but yes anything other than 3N will get you excited. I don't think partner can pass the ToX with this which would likely work out best.
