With us being white versus red, I am not going to be too worried about missing slam. Partner will be very frisky so we might not even make 5.

I am not happy about the location of the spade queen, and where the heck is the heart suit? Partner (the way I play), has 10 or more cards in minors, so at most 3 in hearts. We might not even be able to win one diamond, and certainly not two. So I am going to bid a lot to forstall a 4 bid, that is surely comming (yes, yes, 3NT might talk west out of bidding). So like Mike, I blast away to 5. If opener bids 5 over 4, his partner with heart fit can hardly pass, and we might well score my two aces if htey bid a slam.

Agree, 5. Making or not, it rates to give us a good result.

5D.

Of course, it depends a bit on your methods.
If you play continuos ranges, as I do, you would
like to invite, one possible way, would be to bid
3S, inv. raise for the higher suit, in this case
diamond.
I am sure there are other methods out there.

3S..guess i'll go against the grain. Slam is cold opposite x xx Kxxxx AKxxx so it feels like I should make a try, especially as I view it as pretty much free. The only danger is letting LHO in with a 4H bid and the opps finding a good 5H save, but they are red/white so this doesnt seem particularly likely.

3 for me too, I hate bidding 5m when we may have 4, 6 or 7.

I'd like to see partner get off to a club lead if the oppenents find a way to compete in hearts, so I think I'll start with a 4C bid...I don't think I'll play it here but it's OK I hope if undoubled. I'll follow this with 5D and then double 5H. As long as partner holds the Ace of clubs, the king of diamonds, or a spade void we should be able to beat 5H at least 1 and may get it for a decent number. At this vulnerability I can't imagine a hand where I can cover all partner's losers for slam without the opponents holding a 10-card heart fit. If partner holds a real dog he can yank the double IMO: x, xx, J10xxx, QJ10xx would qualify, I would think.

My God this is a monster. Opposite the right 7 count (---, x, Kxxxxx, Axxxxx), grand could be near cold, so how can I just bid 5? I'll start with 3 and cue 4 over 4 of a minor, coaxing 4 from my monkey. I have the diamonds, so I can control the auction.
