I was not sure what the difference between my pass, redouble, 5nt, and 6h would be, since no explanation was provided. I guess that should have been a red flag

Good robot players can claim to understand GIB's bidding system. Understanding GIB logic is an entirely different thing.

GIB defaults to pass when it doesn't know what to bid.
It should be defaulting to playing in a fit at lowest level.
