I usually play on BBO with my wife. I use a PC and she an ipad. Having just purchased a new PC, she tried to use the old PC but neither of us were allowed to log on with a message "connection lost" coming up. Any answers?

Strange, but at first sight it looks like a husband/wife/new stuff problem
A good rule in IT is never to change more than one thing at once.
Did you try having her use the new PC and you use the old PC as always?

I've often wondered why BBO doesn't monitor IP addresses, to prevent two people in the same location from exchanging information about their hands. Of course, this would block legitimate partners from playing (say, husband & wife partnerships).
Blocking an IP address would also solve the problem of abusive users who, once they are suspended, simply create a new username and carry on with the abuse.
My 2 ˘ anyway

We use this information during cheating investigations, but don't block them routinely for the very reason you give.
And considering that people thousands of miles apart can simply talk to each other on the phone or a separate chat app, there's not really any more chance that they're cheating if they're coming from the same IP.
