Why has a game started without a registered pair?

Unless the tournament has +allavail+ in the description, it doesn't wait for all registered pairs to be online. Any pairs that are registered but not available will be deregistered.

Yesterday tournament #7392 had 15 pairs registered AND had +allavail+ in description. At start time I saw 1 pair removed and tournament start with 7 pairs tables (sorry). I spoke to the pair who insisted they were online and it looked to me as though they were as well.

Are you talking about KenJ29156+Allingtons?

Ken cancelled their registration about 30 seconds before it started. They tried to register again, but the tourney was already starting so it was too late.

As mentioned before, this is an easy mistake to make with the current interface.
If you click on your registration to be sure who you are registered with (or whatever) then you get a reassuring message and an innocuous looking 'cancel inscription' button. Someone in a hurry may not read the button and assume that it dismisses the message, or press it because they can't see any other way out, or whatever.
Offering an 'OK' button and a red 'cancel inscription' button (or something similar) would help.

We often wonder why players mistakenly cancel their registrations, I think you may be right about it.
