Sorry, but unlike Roland's problems I am afraid this one is not 100% foolproof, and the best defence might just be a guess, still wanna see how you think these one:

From the bidding partner is around 11 HCP (9-11 after you see dummy) and you know it would be very hard that he passed at this vulnerability on third position with such a strenght and a 5♠ suit. That´s why you decide to lead ♥3 (dunno if you agree but have to stick to it).

♥3 goes to the 4, Q and 5.

Partner switches to ♠4, K, 8 and 3 (Std attitude).

Declarer plays ♦4, your 3, J and 7 (Std count).

Dummy plays ♣2, 4, J and your Q.

so far 1 trick on each suit has been played, and you are again on lead, what do you play?

since I don't know what I'm doing tonight, I'll make a fool of self and try this one.

I might just try another ♥/ safe if P started with Q-10 tight, should be OK and take P off endplay if P has AQ10 of hearts.

can't P be QJ4th, AQ10, xx, xxxx? or something like that.

Like I said, brain is slowly deteriorating. Probably see errors of this reasoning after some sleep.

I maded 2 mistakes on this deal, first was to retunn a ♥ instead of a ♠ (althou I hidden the ♥2 it was worth nothing), next was to let my emotions let me look desperate. This gave declarer the clue he was needing:

♦ K -A
♦10-Q
♣A
♠ to partner's ♠A

Partner knew longago he would be squeezed on teh play of ♥K if he exited passivelly with a ♠ so he played ♣6, but declarer already suspected I had to have 5♥+4♦ and made the ♣ finese :-(.

this is tough one without seeing all hands,

based on the first post, partner's S4 should discourage the Heart continue, otherwise, he would play S5 to you. this is the only clue i can think of now. plus, S2 is out there, if partner held it, he would have AJ542, or QJ542.
i probably do spade return, not much with confidence, just guess.


with the actual hand, declear did all the correct play as far as i can see.

and that is why I would continue spades, crediting pard with a nice underlead from AQJx. Right switch, but for the wrong reason.. lol.

Hey!: I made the right non-switch (heart continuation) to help declarer rectify the count. Of course, was half asleep at time. Just goes to show, partner switched for a reason and led LOW spade (encouraging), not an intermediate or higher spot. Who was it who said that the longer one thinks about a play, the more likely one is to make the wrong play? Well, here's a sample to enter into evidence for the prosecution!
