Just got back to my computer at 1230 pm EST Sydney Australia 2nd September.
Noticed that a Server upgrade had taken place.
I am now unable to see the names of entrants to tournaments prior to the start of a tournament.
Is this one of the 'tweaks'?
If so, what is the purpose of it?

It's surely a bug.
Rumour has it that the tournament will start and run OK. But of course, players will not be able to cancel their registration, so it's all a bit unsatisfactory.

There was a bug, but it was fixed meanwhile.
We did a server upgrade on the night of Monday -> Tuesday:

One of the changes was adding 5-digit IDs for tournaments, as the existing 4-digit ones were recycled too quickly.
Buglet was: tourneys with 5-digit number were not showing registrants.
It was fixed almost immediately.
