What is your agreement? Is it weak, strong, Multi, Mexican, Benji? Is it a Roman or mini-Roman or transfer preempt? Is Wilcosz allowed where you play?

A 2 opening promises 4+ Diamonds and either (4+ Hearts or 4 Spades)

Opener should not have 4441 or 5440 shape. 4432 is fine
If opener has a 4 card major, they should have Qxxx or better.

The opening is preemptive and denies enough strength for a constructive opening bid.

WRT responses

3H = Pass or Correct
3D = Preemptive raise of Diamonds
3C = Asking bid: Opener will clarify his heart holding and range
2NT = Relay for Shape/Range
2S = Puppet to 2NT
2H = Pass or Correct

I think that everything I have listed above, plus both majors, is more popular than this treatment.

This is a decent place to start if you are looking for alternatives to the common methods. If you just want a definition of one of one of the common methods then I would suggest starting a thread in the Novice/Beginner forum where you will receive some friendly advice.
