On the first hand of an 18-hand tournament, my partner had started to play and his RHO chimes in "Please play faster." In a face-to-face tourny, partner would have called the director. What do we do here in BBO? We don't want to stop the progress.

Honestly? Grow some thinker skin if this rises to gross misconduct worth complaining about. Life's too short.

Well, it is pretty rude. I suggest you play as slowly as you possibly can without running out of time if this happens again.

Thank you, TylerE, for your honest opinion. However, no one mentioned "gross misconduct." I was talking about "rudeness." I thought you would have caught that. Pearls ...

It's rude if the bid was more or less in tempo, particularly if we are talking about declarer's first play from dummy.
But in extreme cases a polite request to speed up may be appropriate.
The BBO interface doesn't do anything to regulate, measure or display think time, and the Director does not have the same possibility as in face to face to figure out who is responsible for slow play.

Reminding an opponent to bid/play is understandable in speedballs, but if this was a tourney with longer time limits then the behavior is unacceptable. You should call the Director.
