Scoring: MP

2D-(P)-2H-(2S)
(P)-(P)-3H-(3S)
All pass

2D: Multi (weak 2H in this case)
2H: relay; 2S would be invite against a weak H
3H: compete

You play against weak opps. Your weak 2's can be very weak: 5-10, even if Vul (Remark: After this hand we agreed that Vul weak 2 should at least promise something - eg 7-10).

I did open 2D (but stongly considered to open 1H). Is it a clear 1H opening for you? Or are their other reasons we did not reach 4H (e.g. our habit that 2D can be opened with weak hand) ?

I don't like the hand for a 2♦ or any opening which shows weak two. Imo this is a 1♥ opener. Opening weak with 2 Aces is usually wrong.

1st point: This hand is enough for a 1-bid.
2nd point: Your system is not ideal. 2♠ should show any hand that is willing to play 3+♥ opposite ♥s, not just an invitation. This way you are quick-in quick-out on more hands.

Now after 2♦ - 2♠ you can, if you like, reserve a bid for "maximum with ♥", for example 3♦. The responses 3♠ and up all show the strong two in ♦ if that is one of your options.

On this hand south's hand is so huge, probably try 4♥ directly after 2♠ regardless if invite or not!

I saw the suggestion to respond 2S not only with an invite. But it was not clear for me how opnener would have to decide between 3H and 4H then. The above does answer this. Thanks.
Remark: Our 2D does only include: weak 2M OR any 22-23HCP.

I can quite happily miss this game. You've had a very fotunate distribution of the opponents cards here. On another day you lose two trumps, a diamond and a spade, possibly two if they lead trumps from the right side.

Give S Axx AQxxxx xxx x and it's a fine weak 2 when vul. I don't like doing it on a void though

In my view a weak two with the South hand has four flaws.

1. Don't open a weak two with a hand that could be a suitable dummy (especially in a major contract).

2. Don't open a weak two holding two aces.

3. Don't open a weak two with a void.

4. Don't open a weak two with a hand that justifies a 1-level opening.

This one does. 1♥ is an obvious opening for me. I have nothing to be ashamed of with a 6-loser hand. Better than many 1-level openings.

I suppose everyone would open that hand 1 something. It has 8 losers though. I much prefer the South hand in this post.

P.S. By the way, if partner responds 1♠, I would raise to 2♠ rather than rebidding hearts.

1H seems pretty clear.

holding AQxxxx + another ace and a void makes the hand good to open 1H.

If you would have:

void
AQxxxx
xxxx
Axx

All Vul, MP, you dealer.

Do you still open 1H? This is porbably less clear then previous hand with 3 card S?

You have 10HCP, 6-4, a void and 2 aces !

I really don't see how you should open anything else than 1♥ ;)

I don't wanna play game wich has 10% chances of success.

10 working HCP+6 card suit enough for 1 level opening.

6-4 shpe is also normally enough to open at the 3 level with 6-9.

Still not 2H. you have a very poweful hand, AQ(in your suit) a side ace and a void. If you had

AQxxxx
xxx
Ax

you would be fine to open a vulnerable 2H, although many experts would open THIS hand 1H. This hand is much weaker than your actual hand.

This is still not a weak 2 to me. Every time it's wrong, partner will save, and every time it's right to save he will not, because he never knows if you have that hand or

Two aces and a pre-empt? Not me, sorry. If I don't open 1♥, I would rather pass. A pre-empt is a hand that has potential on offence, but very little, if anything at all, defensively.

Would most people really open this 1 something? I can be as timid as a mouse or as aggressive as a raging bull, but I don't think I'd open this even with my beer muscles on. It does like fine for a mini NT though

I confess I couldn't pass that 13 count :) (if you can call it that)
