4 is described as 7+ HCP, strong rebiddable

Did my reverse short-circuit the bot? Normally I'd have bid 3, but I've had poor results in the past with jump bids.

You bidding shouldn't have mattered for GIB to move from a stone cold 3NT to an impossible 4. Unless 3NT perversely showed 3 card spade support, bidding 4 is a GIB special. North has already showed 5(+) spades with the 2 call, has semi-balanced 5332 distribution, and has an ace in the unbid suit, so there is no reason to bid 4.

Obviously 4S is a terrible call but I'm wondering whether 3 is forcing here. 3NT will end the auction on a lot of hands where you're cold for 6.
