Hi all

1Y (1Z) 1NT (X)

Do you think there is standard meaning for the double?

A. Competitive double with support for the unbid suits

B. Penalty

Ty very much.

Modified.

Assuming ST stands for suit Transfer:

X is T/O for the unbid suits.

But since they used Transfer, the X showes also some cards in the ST suit, so X is also
some Kind of penalty.
With kind regards

This should be penalty and should include a high honor in partner's suit.

I think it's much better for it to show 5-5 in the unbids than be for penalty. Especially opposite players like me who like to overcall pretty light at the 1 level; opps will have half the deck min if they didn't psyche. You'll have an opportunity to double for penalty approximately never.

For me it should show the two unbid suits. Exactly how depends on Y and Z, zone and opening style.

This would be pure penalty, cannot wait to see all modern explanations but I prefer to be old fashioned.
