Matchpoints. System weak NT, 5cM. The 2S rebid is GF promising either 5+C, 4+S or a huge 4144. Playing natural methods, how can East show a strong-slam-interest spade raise here? Perhaps 3D followed by 4S, but that might be passed?

Our intermediate-level opps bid 1C-1H; STOP 1S (the correct way to show a 20-count while preserving bidding space!)-4S; 4NT (simple BW)-5D (one ace); 6S. The grand however is excellent, particularly when the CJ drops in two rounds.

Bidding 3S seems like a good start.

It's a lot easier if you can simply rebid 1, but 1-1-2-3- has to be the right start given your system constraints.

We would actually be able to show AKQx, x, Axx, AQxxx pretty much precisely by our methods (it's just possible there's a heart void and an extra card in any of the other 3 suits or it's 4126).

3S should do the job. We are not sure yet to impose slam (weakish trumps, one of the red honors probably wasted, but useful KC and overall strength), but can’t do less with such a hand.

Your opp’s sequence (and maneerism) is kinda suspicious to say the least.

Did you really let that auction go unchallenged?

I was going to call the TD if it looked like E had used the UI, but she had an obvious raise to 4S with GF values and 4c support. Am I missing something?

Well the abuse of STOP is hardly orthodox, and nor is rebidding at 1 level with a hand worth 22.6 points Kaplan and Rubens.
You might feel that someone is pulling the wool over your eyes, and Director is there to decide.

Yeah, but what can his partner do other than bid 4 now he's never stopping short of slam.

We play 1-1-1 as "forcing if you had a response" so would do it on a hand a touch weaker than this
