What a finish by icycookie!
I am not sure I can cope with the pressure of defending humankind's honour. I don't even know whether I should upgrade the challenges to advanced bots - maybe I will do a practice round playing IMPs to get used to the basic bot...

Indeed, congrats icycookie on an impressive score, GIB on proving all of the doubters wrong and commiserations to garant_7 for missing out on the semis by just a board and a half in his first tournament.

Semifinals are icycookie vs twisterrz, and GIB vs cherdano - 4 challenges of 16 boards each.

cherdano, perhaps PM me the results instead of posting them here, and I may attempt a brief commentary. Am looking forward to this one :)

Thank you, again, SMerriman for organizing this. Good luck CherDano, Gib, IcyCookie, and TwisterZ. Looking forward to an exciting and educational KO.

cherdano, hold off on playing your SF against the bot. I'm looking into whether we'll pay for your entries so you can play against advanced bots.

Maybe he prefers to beat the basic bot :)

Commentating a match is much harder that I thought :) Haven't had much time recently so will just post the first two quarters here:

GIB won 4 of the first 8 boards, winning the first quarter 9-7:
https://webutil.brid...no&v3b=web#row-

cherdano then bettered this by winning 4 of the first 5 boards of the second quarter:
https://webutil.brid...herdano&v3b=web

Half way score: cherdano 16.5 - 15.5 GIB

icycookie - twisterrz 8-8

And overall 32.5-31.5, thanks twisterrz for the match, and look forward to meeting cherdano/gib in the finals.

It's all down to icycookie - can he deny GIB a landmark title?

I have a question. In all the hundreds of boards I played with GIB, it has never make a weak 2 bid. Has anyone ever seen GIB make a weak 2 bid?

I've decided to complete 64 boards against advanced GIB instead,
set 1 of 4 (previously posted) 8-8
https://webutil.brid...736&u=icycookie
set 2 of 4, another tie 8-8.

And I finished my finals against advanced GIB,
set 3 of 4 10.5 - 5.5
https://webutil.brid...037&u=icycookie
set 4 of 4 10.5 - 5.5
https://webutil.brid...046&u=icycookie

For an overall win of 37-27 human against gib.

Thank you to smerriman for hosting, and all participants, including GIB for the fun games. See you all in the next event :)
