N and S deserve each other. Bidding 3 is horrible (shoudl bid 3), but passing 3 is just hilarious.

100% to N, 1500% to S.

I disagree. For N to bid 3D he must have about 7 so South is justified in passing. South must have 5C 4H or substantial extras. North should have bid 2N scramble or 3C.

If N actually has anything like 7 decent diamonds don't you want to be in 3N? All parter needs for it to be virtually lockdown is the Q and may not even need that.

As a reminder, North is a GIB and the descriptions says 4+ diamonds. You may think there is bridge logic that says ~7 diamonds, but GIB only has rules and those rules make no sense in many auctions, including this one.

When you play with GIB, sometimes you want to pass in an absolutely ridiculous contract if it is not doubled. On this hand, you could end up in 5 doubled or worse.

Why are you bothering to write a post just to publicly announce that you cannot count to 9? 1 spade + 2 heart + 1 diamond + 4 club tricks = 8.

I feel the GIB team may want to look at this particular bidding sequence.

One of the Souths doubled, and then bid 3 (presumably some sort of strong takeout)

The system explanation for the first DBL was identical to what nullve saw "3-5 ; 2- ; 3-4 ; 3-4 ; 12+ total points"
The system explanation for the 2nd round 3 said "Strong rebiddable ; 18+ total points"

I feel that either the second round 3 should have no default meaning in GIB system or should mean some sort of strong takeout.

Because I expect to take 3 heart tricks with Qxx vs AKxx?

Ah ok so when you meant that it's cold opposite 7 decent diamonds and Q you meant that it's cold opposite 7 decent diamonds, Q, and Q? And you think that's a reasonable expectation in this auction?
Ok. Thank you for your valuable contributions to this thread.
