Solitaire.

It seems that responder play Walsh but responder doesn't.

Walsh or not, it can't be right that this hand has no way to show a 6-card diamonds.

Or at least, responder should bid 1NT rather than play in a 4-1 fit.

I have seen GIB show this pattern a few times. It is called a "bar bid" in the definition. However, there are other areas where GIB is inconsistent. If I had to guess on this one it would be not enough hcp. Maybe it's programmed to make one response only with less than "x" number of points, even if it means leaving you in a 4-1 fit! What can you say? GIB continues to outdo itself.

I have no problem with the 1h bid, the pass was insane. I'd bid 1n or 2c with that. If you bid 2c, partner should then bid 2h and you could try that.

I thought bar bids only apply after a 1NT rebid?

Anyway, my suspicion is that the pass of 1 is not because the sims favour it above 1NT but because some misguided rule makes it mandatory. I could be wrong, of course.

Another issue is that there is something wrong with the bidding system if it is not possible to end in 2.

Yeah, last time this came up I discovered GIB will bid the same with 5432 AJT987654. If opener isn't going to bid 1NT, it should just bid 1 to start with.

That could be, and it bothers me that I'm not sure. However, 2D would be forcing (4th suit), so what would 3D be playing with a normal partner? It's probably why GIB passed.

2 is 4th suit forcing for everybody I know, so that's out for playing 2. If you play XYZ in this sequence, responder can bid a relay 2 and pass the forced 2 but GIB doesn't play that.
