After the sequence 1 - 1N - pass - ?

What are your agreements?

After 1 minor - 1N - pass I can see the value of using the same system as after an opening 1N, but what if opps open 1 major?

Sure. I wouldn't bid it, but why not?

Best to minimize memory load on infrequent auctions.

In a context of 5cM and potentially 3cm, I play that after 1m, you « forget » the opening and do like after an unopposed 1N opening. After 1M, all transfer, the transfer to the opening suit being Stayman (you might switch after a 1S opening so that the 1N overcaller is declarer in a H contract).

For me system is "ON" on the same way like we opened 1nt, however possible is change when transfer is in opponents suit like 1-1nt-pass-2 can be ask for stopper in and 2 natural, meaning by system, for minors or transfer on the way that used by partnership agreement if you play minor transfers.

Need an agreement about that.
1)To expose a psych with you holding 5 or more stong spades.
2)interest in a one-suited minor slam holding a void in spades or the ace.
3) a 4-4-4-1 hand invitational to game.

You can play systems over 1 NT on or systems off. Either is workable, the major thing is to just remember what you are playing.

Systems on is easy -- same bids as if your side opened 1 NT.

Systems off - cue of the opponents suit is Stayman, everything else is natural.

With an expert partner I play with, we actually play natural here with 2s (cuebid) being Stayman. With others, I play 3 suit transfers with an attempt to transfer to "their" suit is Stayman, so here 2h would be that with 2c/2d/2s as transfers.
