I saw that an immediate 3 would show 5 so I decided to go via Lebensohl. This shows apparently 4+. I would think that the robot could now show its heart stopper. The 3 response to Lebensohl already shows a non-exceptional t/o so no need to repeat the message of 3-card spade support.

At another table, the human bid an immediate 3 after which the robot bid 3NT. I suppose that auction is ok, but 3 just shows a random gf so it's not even obvious that the robot should show a 4-card spades in response to it?

Agreed with steve, that's how it *should* work. I don't think GIB understands the sequences here though, since if you try it, it'll continue with 4..

Edit - actually, going by this, leb then cue denies a stopper. GIBs descriptions are very unclear, so it's hard to know what it plays.
