If you had made a penalty double of 4♣ then GIB would have pulled. Takeout doubles are meant to be left in B-)

In such cases I have found to just cue the suit - clubs in this case - anything else is a crap shoot.
So you may go for a number or be in the wrong place. who cares?

If this kind of stuff isn't on the top of the fix it list, what is?

Is it really that hard to fix that GIB doesn't take out take out doubles with absolutely no reason not to? Is it really that hard to change the point counting system to not count shortness in partner's suit?

Is it really that hard to get GIB to bid its five card major in response to a takeout double rather than its four card minor?
