Just play bridge robot. Human South.

The 3 bid was a bit speculative, I know, but I had tolerance for diamonds and figured we'd be okay in 4 if GIB didn't like hearts. Unfortunately for me, a singleton was all it needed to decide it liked them.

Solid raise by North with a hand nearly worth an opening bid (7 HCP, 1 for doubleton spade, 2 for singleton heart, a couple more for a 7 card suit). Not quite enough for a slam try. :)

Sorry dont have hand record
1h 2s 3d 3s 6s gib raised on spade void 544 12 hcp
Only way gib has enough pts is fully counting spade void
Did not play well without AKQJTx
Was a challange match at imps
Sarcasm is a state of mind

Anything speculative with GIBBO is recipe for disaster. I had similarly 2d-2S and GIBBO raised to 4S with stiff spade. "Twice rebiddable" might have something to do with it.

It's not speculative according to GIB (it bids the same way). If you're going to play at the 4 level regardless, 4 surely can't be the worst bid in the world though.

I don't think one should have to have a suit that plays well in game opposite a singleton in order to be able to bid 3. What's the point of bidding 3 at all if that's the case? I could just bid 4 since the chances GIB has a void in hearts are rather small.

In fact, North holds 1.6 hearts on average and a void only about 14% of the time. If 3 isn't asking if North has more hearts than average then I don't know what it means.

Give South AJxxxx of hearts and everything else the same and 5 has play while 4 is completely hopeless.
