in the main bridge club

click on View button

click on adjust settings

select World Class

at the time i did this all but two tables disappeared from the table list. neither of these tables had players who were self-rated as world class.
==========================================

reset the above settings to all levels selected

navigate to Play Bridge

click on Help me find a table

button indicates it is clicked but nothing happens
=========================================

while i was writing this message i went back to bbo

still on the Play Bridge screen

there was a system message to me saying pinochio has logged off and do i want to send him a message and a chat message was opened.

i have no idea who pinochio is and there are no player names dispalyed on the Play Bridge screen. i do not normally receive logon or logoff messages.

pinochio is not on my friends list nor is he on my enemies list.

It sounds to me like 2 and 3 aren't bugs -

Fred said in his post that the "Help me find a partner" button won't work for a couple of days yet

The mail message thing probably means that you accidently click on Pinochio's name bringing up a chat window. When he logged off, BBO replaced the chat window with an option to send him mail instead.

micky, there are no player names displayed on the play bridge window therefore i could not have inadvertently clicked on that player's name.

i did not read about the help me find a table button not working for a few days but that would explain why it didn't work for me.

why do you assume that i do not know when i click on a player name? in effect you are denying that i have experienced a problem.

Numerous times I've returned to the BBO window to find a message asking if I wanted to leave a message for someone I'd never heard of. I'm not saying that it definitely isn't a bug, I was just suggesting the same thing might have happened to you.

"- (The big one) You will see a new button in the Play Bridge! area and on the menu that appears when you right click on your own name. This button says "Help me find a game!". Right now when you click it, nothing will happen. In a day or 2 the server will be ready to support this function. Then you will see something happen."

The "Do you want to leave a message for Pinnochio?" (or whatever) message happens when a private chat window is open and the person who the private chat message will be directed to logs out.

It sounds like you were doing some experimenting. Perhaps you clicked on Pinnochio's name in the list in the Main Bridge Club (possibly not on purpose) and then clicked on the main window somewhere (like on the View button). The chat window would go into the background, but when Pinnochio logged off you would still get the message in question.

I can replicate the "France" bug. It has been around forever - thanks - I will fix it now. I cannot replicate the "world class" bug. Can you please try to achieve this state again and, if you are successful, let me know what the rest of your View filters were set to?

Whatever bugs in the View filtering exist have existed since the beginning. This part of the program has not been changed since it was introduced (close to a year ago I think). Amazed that nobody reported the France bug before. Congrats :)

regardless of what country(ies) i filter, there are two or three tables (currently empty) that continue to appear in the list. this also happens if i select to view 0 countries (all other filters left at default)

tables are: crisalu and krata

i cannot replicate the star player bug - does that filter include tables that a star player is kibitzing at perhaps?

This is the "France bug".

The way the algorithm currently works when either "Select Countries" or "Select Levels" is used is that tables are rejected if a player is sitting in any seat at that table who does not belong to one of the countries/levels the user chose.

So, when "Show empty seats" is selected along with "Select Countries" and/or "Select Levels", tables in which only a host is present and not sitting (ie nobody is sitting in any of the seats) always pass the countries/levels filters.

This will be fixed in 4.2.5. Obviously it is not an end of the world type bug and it has been around for over a year so I hope this will not discourage anyone from trying 4.2.4.

I tried out the find a table to kibbitz. That was pretty cool. There is one thing that I was wondering about:

I set the find option to stars, but the table that it gave me had only one star playing, while there was another table that had two stars playing. And the table that it took me to wasn't the first alphabeticall that had a star playing at it, so I don't really understand the algorithm at work here. Does it also count the kibbitzers, and then take you to the table with the highest total stars of both kibs and players?

If so, I recommend just sticking with the highest number of players that are stars, that's what would interest me the most. But maybe others feel differently, I don't know.

Anyway, that was really minor. Keep up the good work with everything! It all looks great!

Ths is probablly not a bug, but all the same...

Clicked on Help me find a Game , Kibitz, Emphasis on Stars.

I was taken to a table in Main Bridge Club where there was 1 Star at the Table and a couple of kibitzers. On checking through MBC & Teams, I find that there were atleast 2 tables in MBC were there were 1 Star each, but more no. of kibitzers and a Team event where there were 4 Stars in play.

Team Event is probably not in picture, when it comes to Kibitzing.

For the moment ( only ) Spec/Play restrict themselves to the main bridge club, to tables that do not need permission, and to tables that are not invisible.

We understand that the more experienced of us would prefer more options and they will arrive in due course.

Yes, but when it happened to me (see above) both table were in the MBC, didn't require permission, and weren't invisible.

It counts up the total # of stars held by spec and players. That is the likely explanation.

When I try this, something does happen - I get a window with an error message telling me that "Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested". I've tried it a few times now, over the last few days. Any idea what's going on? The "news" in the lobby is also an I.E. thing but that works fine.
